A class is an alternate grouping of users that establishes access rights to entities, CRE properties, or CRE projects. To establish class security, you can create classes, and then assign users to a class. You can add as many classes as your organization needs to establish security. However, a given user may only be assigned to one class of each type. Before you add classes, you should determine the number of classes your organization needs based on how you want to restrict users' access rights.
Once you determine the classes your organization needs, the next step is to add the classes to MRI.
Note
You must have Modify Roles permissions to add or modify a project class. Refer to Adding and Maintaining Users and Access Rights for more information.
To create a new project class, follow these steps:
1. Go to Classes.
2. Click the Project tab.
3. In the Database field, select the database to contain the new class.
Note
If you only have access to one database, it is selected by default.
4. Click Add.
5. In the Create New Security Class dialog box, complete the following fields:
▪ Name—Enter a unique name for the project class limited to 20 characters.
▪ Description—Enter a description for the project class limited to 40 characters.
6. Click Save.
7. In the right panel, in the Assign by field, select the level of CRE project access from the following options:
▪ TB_PR_PROJECT—Project
▪ TB_PR_PROJGRP—Project group
8. To filter or sort the projects by current access level, project or group ID, or description, use the filter fields in the header row of the grid. For example, to see projects to which the role currently has view-only access, select VIEW in the Access filter field.
9. Use the information in the following list to continue.
